Zach Galifianakis stars in the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch

It’s been nearly five years since Disney announced its live-action remake of the classic Lilo & Stitch, and now the film’s cast and crew finally seem to be coming together.

According to , Zach Galifianakis, best known for his role in The Hangover, will now star in the live-action remake. Disney hasn’t announced his role yet and is still looking for actors to play Lilo and her older sister.

Dean Fleischer Camp, who recently directed Marcel the Shell With Shoes On, is also set to direct the live-action remake after Disney reportedly negotiated with Jon M. Chu to direct the project in late 2020.

Written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, the Lilo & Stitch Remake once again follows the story of Lilo, a young Hawaiian girl who, against the will of humans and aliens alike, forms a bond with an alien creature named Stitch.

While not much else is known about the film’s cast and crew, Disney has previously announced that the remake will premiere on Disney+. The remake was originally scheduled to start filming in 2020 but has faced delays and now has no clear release window.
