Petersburg, TASS The peace initiatives proposed by several countries to resolve the Ukraine conflict contained ideas that could work, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in an interview with TASS.
When asked by a TASS correspondent at the International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in St. Petersburg in 2023 whether the peaceful solution plans proposed by other countries contained viable ideas, Zakharova replied: “Of course there are.”
“I reiterate that we are grateful to any country, any state or any public figure because many initiatives have been personally proposed by prominent, internationalist figures; we are grateful to everyone who is talking about peace, who is talking about a peaceful solution and who wants to be helpful in this matter,” she said.
“There are interesting ideas that could work. There are ideas that align with our approaches, and one of them is the Chinese initiative,” she continued.
Zakharova stressed that the main problem is that such initiatives are “blocked by the Kiev regime, which has forbidden itself” to conduct negotiations with Russia.
