Zara Tindall opens up about ‘S**t-day with kids’ and asks staff to bring champagne to ‘dry event’

Zara Tindall opened up about her “crappy days with the kids” and cheekily asked the organizers to serve a bottle of champagne at a “dry event,” an insider has claimed.

The mother-of-three, 41, flew to Queensland last month to take part in the Magic Millions polo tournament as part of her role as Racing Women Ambassador.

During the family’s week-long stay at Surfer’s Paradise, Zara hosted a Women with Horsepower event, which was attended by TV presenter Shelly Horton.

Writing for 9Honey, Shelly described Princess Anne’s daughter as “lovely, normal and relaxed” as she sat down to lunch with her guests.

No alcohol was served during the meal, Shelly says, as guests would be behind the wheel of various sports cars afterwards.

After the hostess heard that the guests were craving a glass of champagne, Zara decided to try her luck with the organizers of the event.

She wrote: “Hero of the day Zara leaves and asks the organizers if she would be happy to pay for a bottle of champagne. My heart has fainted once more.’

Much to Shelly’s shock, the organizers upheld the rules of the dry event and politely declined the king’s request.

During a panel with fellow athletes, Zara spoke about her struggles as a parent – a topic she addressed in a recent YouTube interview with her husband.

Shelly added, “At one point she was being interviewed on the panel and she was like, ‘Sometimes it’s just a really crappy day with the kids, and I struggle with it.’ I’ve eaten every word.’

While sitting opposite the king at the meal, Shelly said she also learned that Zara “hates security” and avoids staying in hotels where she can.

As the mother-of-three “doesn’t like fuss,” Zara reportedly told guests that she and Mike prefer to rent a home for their family during their annual trip to Queensland rather than stay in a hotel.

Shelly added: “Zara Tindall exudes royalty without being very regal at all. It’s the kind of behavior Meghan and Harry should mirror instead of filming controversial documentaries and releasing take-down books.

Last month, Zara starred in the first episode of her husband’s new YouTube series Mike Drop, also produced by the Magic Millions tournament.

Zara opened up about her struggles with “mother guilt” and explained that she had a hard time returning to horseback riding after giving birth to her children Mia, eight, Lena, five, and Lucas, 18 months.

Zara added: “I found it hard to get back into it. Mentally you feel guilty as a mother who leaves her child to do something else.

“After having Mia I felt like my goal was to get back on a horse, I want to go back.

“I had a good horse to come back to for your trust and I wanted to come back for him too. Trying to have a goal is probably something I always need.

“I always need goals in my life and I set myself many goals all the time.”

However, she said she has struggled to get back into the sport, adding: “It’s been hard to get your body back when you’ve been racing for 25 years and then your body just doesn’t do it.

“Your muscles [are] Doing nothing and stretching and creating something amazing but it’s totally different. I found it was hard work trying to get your body back to where it was.’

Meanwhile, she acknowledged how the couple had balanced Zara’s career with life as new parents, adding: “Mia has been traveling with us too.

“She was taken to the shows a lot – it was easier when we had one!”

In the interview, the couple also spoke about the Magic Millions horse race, which they compete in every year in Australia.

Zara was named the inaugural Magic Millions Racing Women Ambassador in 2012 and now travels to Surfers Paradise in Queensland every year for the Gold Coast Yearling Sale, seven days of auctions culminating in this weekend’s big race meeting, where all participants will buy horses from the previous Magic Millions Auctions.
