Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said he and President Biden had “good” communication, but said it was “unfortunate” that support had come after Russia invaded Ukraine.

And Zelensky challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin: “Sit down with me to negotiate, not just 30 meters away,” apparently a reference to a long table that appeared in recent images of Putin’s meeting with other world leaders.

“I don’t bite. What are you afraid of?” Zelenski added, according to the Associated Press. “All kinds of words are more important than shots.”

Zelensky told Trex Yingst of Fox News on Thursday that “We have good contact” when asked about his communications with Biden and whether the United States has waited too long to support Ukraine.
