According to Johnson's spokesman Raj Shah, the meeting will be held at the Capitol, home of the Legislature, and could be crucial for progress on aid to Ukraine while Republicans refuse to release more resources and the White House before it warns Funds that have already been released could be used up in a few weeks.
A Senate official said Democratic House Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican leader Mitch McConnell also invited Zelensky to speak at a meeting of all senators on Tuesday morning.
The White House said the meeting would come at a critical time “as Russia increases its missile and drone attacks against Ukraine.”
In early December, Putin signed a decree increasing Russian troops by 15% to support his military operation in Ukraine, increasing the army's contingent by 170,000 troops.
Recently, Moscow has shown signs of openness to a possible peace deal, although it seeks a peace deal that includes a reduced and neutral Ukraine, which is unthinkable for Zelensky.
The American State Department announced on Wednesday an interim solution for $175 million (R858 million) in new aid to Ukraine, including rockets, projectiles, missiles and HIMARS munitions.
