After visiting troops in the conflict-torn regions of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once again promised soldiers new equipment. “There will be new deliveries,” Zelensky said in his video message broadcast in Kiev last night. He recounted his conversations with military commanders and doctors during his travel near the frontline area.
Zelensky visited 13 brigades. He will convey the soldiers’ demands to generals, government officials and those responsible for international relations. He did not give details.
Zelensky promises new weapons production
Zelensky also announced the production of new weapons and other important decisions for the country. The president had already announced that he was dismissing the head of the military administration of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kyrylenko.
According to a report by the Internet portal “Ukrainskaya Pravda”, Kyrylenko will in future head Ukraine’s antitrust office, which is supposed to prevent the formation of monopolies. The stage counts as a promotion. At first, it was unclear who would lead the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Donetsk region, which is predominantly occupied by Russian troops.
Ukraine has been waging a counteroffensive to liberate its Russian-occupied territories for months. In addition to the regions of Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk, this also includes Kherson and Luhansk. In the Russian war of aggression, which has lasted more than 18 months, Kiev also wants to recapture the Crimean peninsula, in the Black Sea, which was annexed by Moscow in 2014.
