Ukrainian presidential adviser Serhiy Leshchenko expects Russia to attack NATO countries to show the West its weakness.
“Putin will attack NATO countries. Simply to show that global institutions are weak. Poland and other neighboring countries should be made aware of what is happening in Ukraine,” Serhiy Leshchenko said in an interview with Die Presse.
Neutrality, but only with security guarantees
Putin’s goal is not just to wipe Ukraine off the map, but also to destroy the global order. Ukraine would be willing to be a neutral state in exchange for real guarantees, Leshchenko said. “We are ready to declare neutrality, but only with security guarantees, not guarantees like the Budapest Memorandum. We are ready to discuss a special status for Crimea and the pre-war occupied areas. However, we are not ready to accept the occupation of the territories conquered by Russia in the course of this war.”
