Calls to 911 alerted the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) to a man who was stabbed to death at an apartment on Rue Evelyn, near Rue Regina.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim with stab wounds to the torso.

The victim was taken to a hospital while he was still conscious and being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to medical authorities.

A 24-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and was due to be met by investigators, said Julien Lévesque, spokesman for the SPVM.

According to preliminary findings, behind this armed attack there is a conflict between the suspect and his victim.

A security perimeter was established to allow investigators, assisted by forensic identification technicians, to analyze the crime scene and meet with witnesses.
