The organization of the carnival has also done a great job for this symbolic edition: Rémi Chassé, Sara Dufour, Nicolas Pellerin, Sarahmée and the comedian Mathieu Dufour will be the headliners of this first opening show in 70 years.
“We explore different styles. We delve into traditional music, folk, hip-hop, rock and even southern music. That is part of the strength of the carnival, because over the years it has been able to adapt but always respect the traditions,” says Mr Blais.
He adds that this completely free show will be a great opportunity to revisit the great themes of Carnival history while “opening up to the future.”
The excited artists
Rémi Chassé, whom Le Journal met on Wednesday afternoon during a media rehearsal, said that he was really looking forward to going on stage at the carnival, an event that brings back several memories for him.
“I'm a local, so Quebec Carnival is one of my memories. To be able to be there with such a great line-up of artists is really great and it will be extremely festive,” explains the native of Sainte-Marie in Beauce.
For her part, the always colorful Sara Dufour wanted to invite the population to celebrate, regardless of the temperature.
“I am truly excited and privileged to be part of something so big and historic. Plus, I love winter and I love trouble, so I'm really looking forward to getting on stage tomorrow night and celebrating with everyone,” she added.
