We know it’s chilly, Lily – but John Motson wants his coat back… Lily James channels the legendary football commentator in a long sheepskin coat
The last time we saw her on screen, she was filling out Baywatch star Pamela Anderson’s famous red swimsuit.
But Lily James has channeled a very different little screen icon with her latest outfit: legendary football commentator John Motson.
The actress was seen in a long sheepskin coat similar to what the BBC star wore on the sidelines last week when she met a friend for coffee – albeit in blue rather than Motty’s trademark brown.
The coat the actress wore to her London trip appears to be the belted double-breasted shearling trench coat Alina from high street chain Reiss, which is currently on sale at £925 after being reduced from £1,500 in January .

The 33-year-old paired it with designer sunglasses and a £1,160 Versace tote bag – although as the face of the Italian fashion label, she may have gotten the accessory as a giveaway.
The star also runs campaigns for Charlotte Tilbury makeup and evoked the timeless glamor of Ava Gardner in a new advert for her last week.
Although he began commentating in 1971, Motson, now 77, rose to fame for his sheepskin coat while covering a Wycombe Wanderers match in horizontal sleet in 1990. In his later career he bought them custom made from Savile Row costing up to £2,000 at a time. “I’ve always paid for my own,” he once said. “People think the BBC is paying for them, but they don’t.”
Meanwhile, Lily will soon be associated with another sport – wrestling – as she stars in the forthcoming movie The Iron Claw as the wife of real-life grappler Kevin Von Erich, played by Zac Efron.
