Kenny Omega’s contract situation has been the subject of much speculation over the last few weeks or even months.
In connection with this, Fightful revealed several pieces of information received from several AEW employees and wrestlers.
They say they heard Tony Khan say he “might” add the length of Kenny Omega’s injury absence to his contract to extend it. Fightful confirms that the Best Bout Machine does indeed have this type of clause in their contract, which is normal in AEW contracts as well as WWE.
Several respondents believe Kenny Omega’s contract has not been renewed “yet” due to his absence through injury. Fightful has attempted to reach Tony Khan but have not heard back.
A source within AEW claimed in late 2022 that Kenny Omega’s contract was about to end and it was possible he could work without signing a new one. Also in the same year, another source familiar with the matter would have said the opposite, saying that Kenny Omega’s contract would not end anytime soon, contradicting this first source.
When it comes to WWE, many people within the federation believe that Kenny Omega has a good chance of arriving. Despite the rivalry between AEW and WWE, Kenny Omega’s relationship with the Stamford Federation has been mostly positive, most notably with Triple H, with whom he spoke in late 2018 about joining the company.
Despite serious allegations from AEW (Tony Khan) of attempted bribery and breach of contract, the WWE source claims that was not the case with Kenny Omega specifically.
Fightful ends by letting us know that Kenny Omega has a paragraph in his contract that affects his freedom to perform on the NJPW side as long as it doesn’t conflict with the AEW dates.
