A 13-year-old showed courage as she defended herself against a shark attack in Florida.
The story took place in Fort Pierce Beach last Thursday when 13-year-old Ella Reed was sitting in the shallows with a friend. She was allegedly attacked by a shark, she told Local 10 News.
She initially managed to scare the animal away with kicks, but the animal quickly attacked again.
“The shark itself was so powerful. That’s what I felt the most because he bit my stomach really hard,” the young girl said, adding that she had to use her arm and hand to try to free herself.
It’s a horror scene for Ella Reed’s mother. “It was crazy because she was completely covered in blood from head to toe. So she couldn’t really see what was going on,” she explained.
Fortunately, the teenager was not seriously injured. However, she had 19 stitches on her stomach, arm, fingers and knee.
