Do restaurants attract customers through dating apps

Do restaurants attract customers through dating apps?

Some American restaurants are trying to attract new customers by creating fake profiles on dating apps, according to several TikTok users.

The restaurant bears the face of a real person who is interested in finding the perfect partner and ultimately luring them to a date at their restaurant, says user @paretay, whose last name is Taylor.

In fact, this fictional person would have confirmed the place and time of the meeting with the Internet user.

When Taylor arrives at the restaurant on the day of the planned meeting, she explains that the man didn’t show up and stopped responding to her messages. When she opened the dating app, she found that she had been blocked.

When Taylor sees that this man has stood her up, she decides to have a meal and a drink at the same restaurant to make the most of her preparation time.

At home, she realizes that she isn’t the only one, knowing that other internet users with the same fake profile and meeting place feel the same way.

A manipulation technique?

According to another TikTok user @nosbystanders, this restaurant would use a manipulation technique to lure these customers, knowing that at least nine times out of ten the victim would decide to eat at the restaurant.

“There’s a name for it: food diggers. These restaurants create profiles on dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, Hinge… All just so you end up eating and drinking there. It may be brilliant, but it’s mean,” the second user points out.
