(Montreal) A Namibian man returning from church and a second man have been identified as the two people killed in a hit-and-run early on New Year's Day in Montreal.

Court documents identify the two victims as Michael Chintakis and Augustin Wesley Katimba. According to police, the two men were both around 30 years old.
The suspect, Antoine Dubuc, 23, was due to appear on Wednesday to face charges of dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after an accident causing death and driving while impaired causing death.
Namibia's ambassador to the United States identified Wesley Katimba as a member of the Namibian diaspora in a Facebook post. Margaret Mensah-Williams wrote that Mr. Katimba was returning from church when he was caught just after 1 a.m. Monday in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville area.
The Ambassador added that Mr Katimba had just celebrated his birthday the day before, December 31st.
Montreal city police allege the suspect struck the two pedestrians at high speed before fleeing in his vehicle and possibly on foot.
