Dozens of Cubans have reacted to a publication on social networks by employees of the municipal services company of the province of Camaguey

The company shared a post about making sarcophagi for this season with the response “I'm proud” and images of an incinerator.

“I do not believe that this information should be published with such significance. You have to feel respect and consideration for certain news that no one likes. It's a job that shouldn't be highlighted. That's what they get paid for. “Treat these facts respectfully and seriously,” said one Cuban.

“They will certainly exceed the incineration plan in 2024”; “Hurry up and leave it alone because hunger will set records this year,” others added.

“Let’s all call the PCC,” someone else said.

Although the publication is no longer available on the company's official account, the images were preserved for posterity thanks to video footage from users and activists.

Last June, fees for some funeral services were introduced in the province of Sancti Spíritus, a measure that is being implemented in the same way in the rest of Cuba's provinces, given the centralization of the Cuban government.

Among the paid services, what stands out is the transfer of the deceased between municipalities in the same province, which was previously free. The measure may affect a large number of families, as in many cases people die in provincial hospitals and have to be transferred to their hometowns.
