The musician recovered from serious injuries in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Hospital São Luiz Itaim Unit. The patient left the ward without sedation, breathing spontaneously and with good neurological progress, the medical report said.
“During the hospitalization in the ward where he was admitted on September 3, 2023, the patient received all the necessary multidisciplinary care and underwent three surgical procedures. After treating an infectious disease in recent days, the medical team assessed that there were conditions for discharge with greater certainty.”
He is being treated at a clinic chosen by the family. In a note, the relatives thanked them for the support and affection shown to them. “He is now entering a new phase of rehabilitation. We will keep friends and fans updated as soon as the results are available.”

Late in the evening of September 2, 2023, Mingau was driving with a friend in a car near Praça do Ovo when he was the target of gunfire from armed criminals.
In a statement to plainclothes police, the friend who was in the vehicle said he and Mingau had withdrawn money from the bank and were having a snack when they were attacked. The musician has an inn in the region.
The hitchhiker said he ducked to protect himself from the shots, but noticed that after the first shots, Mingau fell and lost control of the steering wheel before crashing into the gate of a house.
The police chief at the time explained that the area where the bassist was shot was dominated by drug trafficking.
“When they saw this car coming, a dark pickup truck, they may have been confused and fired the shot that ultimately hit this member of the band Ultraje a Rigor,” Marcello explained.
