For her part, Nicaraguan designer Brisa Hernández highlighted the importance of the event as she learned about the origin of this beautiful piece, which has high cultural content in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

“In this festival we learned more about the garment and how we can recreate it starting from our roots in each of the countries, both Honduran, Salvadoran and Cuban, where the Guayabera was born. We have also seen Nicaraguan designers who implement a little local work, artisanal, to give it a new, slightly more national version, without forgetting the tradition,” he emphasized.

In this sense, Honduran designer Gladys Gradis, who gives her pieces an authentic Catracho style, thanked her for the invitation to the cultural event, showed her respect for Cuban designers and described the festival as an ideal place to learn.

In addition to the catwalks and trade fairs, visitors also enjoyed typical dishes from different countries as well as artistic dance and music performances.

The guayabera was first made in Cuba in the 19th century and has become internationalized over the years. Today it is a widely used garment in various parts of the world, both in official events at the highest level and in other activities.
