The actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the Yorgos Lanthimos film, opened up about the difficulties she faced portraying the disturbing Bella Baxter.

“Learning to walk or eating 60 Portuguese cakes that are delicious at the first bite but make you want to puke at the end,” she said while taking part in a panel discussion at the best film producer nominations ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday.

“Or the fact that she's seeing death and decay for the first time, which is a lot harder than nudity, which is the only thing people seem to want to ask me about,” adds Emma Stone.

The actress revealed that these aspects of the role were more difficult to handle than the sexually explicit side of the character. “Bella's sexuality was another aspect of it, as was the way she was going to be filmed, our amazing intimacy coordinator, our closed sets and everything else.” In a way, that was the easiest part because it was choreographed. It happened quickly. “We knew exactly what we were doing,” Emma Stone revealed about her character.
