On Monday and Tuesday, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen will attend the COP27 world climate conference in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
On his first trip abroad after his re-election, Van der Bellen will speak ahead of the conference on overcoming the climate crisis and will also hold several bilateral talks on the sidelines of the summit.

“Containing the climate catastrophe is our great responsibility and joint task”, confirmed the Federal President in the run-up to the conference, in which Austria was also represented by Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) and Finance Minister Magnus Brunner ( ÖVP ).
Van der Bellen meets with Austrian youth delegates
Van der Bellen will meet with Austria’s youth delegates to COP27 on Monday and will participate in the opening of the leaders’ roundtable. On Tuesday, the federal president will address the assembled heads of state and meet with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for bilateral talks.
