An explosion hit a gas pipeline connecting Lithuania and Latvia in the north of the country. This was reported by Lithuanian public broadcaster Lrt, which published images of a fire in the area and stressed that no casualties were reported. The explosion of the pipeline operated by operator Amber Grid was reported around 5 p.m. local time in the village of Pasvalio Vienkiemiai in Pasvalys district. A police spokeswoman said the neighboring village of Valakėliai, which has around 250 residents, was evacuated. The pipeline transports gas to the northern part of Lithuania and Latvia.
