The City of Lévis Police Department (SPVL) was first called around 1:50 p.m. about a theft of more than $1,000 from a Canadian tire shop in Charny. On site, employees gave them the personal description and the number of their license plate.
“That’s when we realized that it was a stolen disc from another of our files that had been opened earlier in the day,” explains Véronique Blouin, door spokeswoman for the SPVL.
A few minutes later, the vehicle belonging to the two suspects was found during a search in the Les Etchemins secondary school sector. The two men, trapped in the facility’s parking lot, then fled on foot before being arrested.
“The investigation tends to show that they would have operated other flights in Lévis in the morning using the same procedure,” Ms Blouin said.
They were 36 and 37 years old and came from Saint-Georges-de-Beauce. Both were arrested for, among other things, theft under $5,000, concealment and escape. The younger of the two suspects has a similar background.
Nobody was injured in the operation.
