A North Carolina teenager was beaten, repeatedly raped and held under a trap door for weeks by a Kentucky man who initially lured her by posing as a 19-year-old.
According to several American media reports citing police documents, the 16-year-old girl living in Fayetteville had been missing since December 6th.
Defendant Zackary Jones, 34, allegedly began an online conversation with the teenager by posing as a 19-year-old young man. One thing led to another, the man persuaded the young woman and finally picked her up from her home to take her to his home.
The teen told authorities that the man admitted to lying about her age when he picked her up, but only found out he was 34 when he arrived at his home, where he introduced her to his family, not without threatening her with reprisals if she didn't pretend to be 18 years old.
Found thanks to her kidnapper's mother
Over the next few weeks, the teenager was drugged by the man, who locked her under a trap door covered by a carpet in the bedroom. During this hellish time, the young woman was, among other things, beaten, raped and threatened with death.
Zackary Jones also admitted to investigators that he raped his victim at least 10 times and admitted to cracking her.
Ultimately, it was the kidnapper's mother who saved the teenager by calling the police and reporting that her son had been arguing with his “girlfriend.”
All of these claims by the authorities still need to be proven in court. In the meantime, he remains in the Pulaski County Jail.
