A child dies at Village Vacances Valcartier –

A five-year-old child died in an accident involving a wall bed at the Hotel Village Vacances Valcartier on Friday evening.

At around 5:15 p.m., the emergency services were alerted to a seriously injured child in Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier.

Initial information indicated that the victim was in critical condition, but the Sûreté du Québec then clarified that the boy injured by the bed had been stabilized and that his life was not in danger.

But around 8 p.m. the situation worsened and the tragedy was confirmed by the police.

“The child died in hospital,” said spokesman Stéphane Tremblay.

The SQ, which initially assisted the paramedics, was not supposed to analyze the crime scene, but investigators from the major criminal investigation department will still try to clarify the circumstances. Forensic identification and a coroner are also expected to provide answers at some point.

Relatives, the first witnesses to the accident, are met to understand what happened.
