A parent who forgot their two-year-old child in the car found them dead at a Montérégie retirement home yesterday after their day at work.
“Leaving a baby in a hot car like today is like putting a child on the stove. It really does something to me,” says Réjean Pelletier with tears in his eyes.
In the parking lot of the building where he is caretaker, a child would have died of heat yesterday in Vaudreuil-Dorion. According to our information, the parent forgot the two-year-old in his Chevrolet car when the mercury rose to 29 degrees Celsius.
The father or mother, whose identity is currently unknown, would have burst into tears upon seeing his child unconscious at the Les Jardins Vaudreuil residence on Querbes street around 4.15pm after his day at work.
horror scene
Diane Brisebois thinks of the little one who was left in the vehicle under the blazing sun in the sector on Friday and claims she gagged while performing the “horror scene”.
“He’s a little baby. He hadn’t done anything wrong. It’s terrible. I get goosebumps just thinking about it,” says the one who lives in the building, located a few meters from where the tragedy happened.

Ms Brisebois adds that the vehicle in which the child died drives past her home every morning.
“I was told that at the end of the day one woman started screaming and crying. The police would have taken him on board,” says Réjean Pelletier.
Ongoing investigation
Stéphane Tremblay, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), mentions that the investigation has been entrusted to the Major Crimes Investigation Service.

“It is not known how long the child was in the vehicle at the time. Paramedics were called to the scene around 4:15 p.m. Attempts at resuscitation were made and the death was then confirmed in hospital,” said Mr Tremblay.
Our request for an interview with the owner of Les Jardins Vaudreuil was turned down yesterday. “We’re with the police investigators and he’s asking us not to say anything,” said an employee on the phone who did not identify herself.

This event, which happened yesterday in Vaudreuil-Dorion, is reminiscent of that of a father who found his dead baby in a SUV in Montreal in 2018. He was wrongly convinced that he had taken him to his downtown daycare.
