Employees at a sorting center in Belgium made a macabre discovery on Wednesday: a human foot in the garbage, a discovery that led to the launch of an investigation.

“The identification requirements are in progress,” the Namur public prosecutor’s office said on Thursday.
The foot was found on a sorting line at the CETT center in Rochefort (south) on Wednesday morning, the company's managing director, Thomas Monseu, told AFP.
“We called the police who asked us to stop working. The line was stopped for a day before resuming today,” he explained, adding that his center had never faced such a discovery before.
“It’s the first and last time, I hope,” he commented.
