This “one-of-a-kind” watch is very symbolic of the Dufour family. In fact, the famous contemporary watchmaker Philippe Dufour created them for the benefit of the foundation created last spring together with his wife Elisabeth Dufour.
A little look back: On June 3, 2023, Philippe Dufour celebrated his 75th birthday at the Hôtel des Horlogers de la Vallée de Joux.
This celebration took on an international dimension with the announcement of the establishment of the Philippe and Elisabeth Dufour Foundation. A charitable foundation established to support, in the words of Mr. and Mrs. Dufour, “the world’s most urgent humanitarian needs.”
“Helping, giving and supporting are important human actions that show our solidarity with people in need. “These actions can have a significant impact on our fellow human beings and bring them hope and comfort,” said the Dufour couple.
And added: “It is important to remember that even small actions can have a positive impact on the lives of others.” Being human means having the capacity for empathy and compassion towards disadvantaged people and looking for ways to do so to help and support them in their daily lives.”
“We wanted a philanthropic foundation that is open to all of the world’s major challenges and whose future looks rather bleak. There are emergencies, be they humanitarian, environmental, educational or health emergencies.”
“We do not claim to be able to solve all problems, but we are keen to do what we can to alleviate the suffering and despair of the most disadvantaged people by doing our part.” As the saying goes: ” Small streams make big rivers.”
These situations include access to food, water, healthcare, housing, education and environmental support. The foundation has already implemented fundraising programs as part of various projects.
Philippe and Elisabeth Dufour are the founders of the Board of Directors, Maricela Lancoud and Daniela Dufour will be its members.
