Another pro-Palestinian demonstration took place in the city of Salzburg. Around 200 people gathered at Neue Mitte Lehen on Sunday to express their solidarity with residents of the Gaza Strip.
War has been raging in the Middle East for almost a month. After the first pro-Palestinian demonstration a week ago in the historic center of Salzburg, there was another demonstration on Sunday – this time in the Lehen district. Around 200 people gathered, a police spokeswoman explained when asked by SALZBURG24 in the afternoon.
The protest registered by the “Palestinian Solidarity Platform Austria” “took place without any particular incidents”.
Israel is at war in the Gaza Strip
The Israeli army’s stated objective is to completely destroy Hamas and its positions, some of which are hidden underground in a tunnel system. Hundreds of fighters from the Palestinian Organization, which controls the Gaza Strip, attacked Israel on October 7 and committed atrocities, especially against civilians, including many women and children, in several cities and at a music festival. According to Israel, 1,400 people were killed in the Hamas attack and more than 240 others were taken hostage in the Gaza Strip.
Israel then declared war on Hamas, which is also classified as a terrorist organization in the US and EU, and placed the Gaza Strip under constant fire. The number of people killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war has risen to 9,770, according to the Hamas-controlled health authority. Around 25,000 people were injured. Currently, the numbers cannot be independently verified.
