The actress Ilka Soares died this Saturday (June 18). She was 89 years old and had been hospitalized for ten days at the Clínica São Vicente in Gávea, Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone, where she was being treated for lung cancer. The information was confirmed by her grandson, stylist Thomaz Azulay.
“It is with sadness and peace that the family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and biggest star, Ilka Soares,” the statement said.
The actress had a 72year career that included appearances in films, soap operas, and theater. In addition to her work as an actress, Ilka also worked as a moderator.
Ilka was born in Rio de Janeiro on June 21, 1932 and would have been 90 this Monday. In 1949 they made their film debut in Iracema. She made her television debut in 1953 in TV Record skits. In the TV Globo soap operas she made her debut in 1971 in O Cafona.
Since then he has worked on productions such as Anjo Mau, Rainha da Sucata, Barriga de Aluguel (1990) and Pecado Capital (1998).
The actress has been married three times, to filmmaker Anselmo Duarte, to Walter Clark and to Nélson Fiúza Filho.
