A Texas grand jury has indicted Patrick Clark, the man accused of shooting rapper Takeoff, with murder, KHOU reported Thursday after confirmation by the Harris County District Attorney’s office.
Takeoff, a member of the rap trio Migos alongside Quavo and Offset, died on November 1 after being shot at a Houston bowling alley. At the time of his death, he was with Quavo, who was unharmed in the shooting.
Clark was arrested based on verified video evidence of the outside bowling alley shooting, which showed he was the only person whose physical position matched the angle at which Takeoff was hit before falling to the ground. Clark was holding a wine bottle at the time of the incident and left it at the scene, allowing authorities to match his fingerprints. After being arrested and charged with murder the same night Takeoff was killed, Clark was released on $1 million bail in January.
A lawyer representing Clark told KHOU that the charges were not unexpected due to a “minimum standard of evidence.”
“We would like to ask people to remember that there is a very, very minimal standard of proof that needs to be met for indictment,” his attorney said. “When we get into a courtroom and before a jury where we can present our evidence and cross-examine the state’s witnesses — where the standard of proof is guilt beyond a reasonable doubt — we expect the jury to come back with a verdict of ‘not guilty “.

During a recent interview with Variety, Offset explained why he found it easier to deal with Takeoff’s death by shutting down.
“It’s hard for me to talk about shit right now. I never talked about this stuff. Seriously. It’s hard to talk about Take, man. Talking about all that shit is hard,” Offset shared. “That’s why I honestly don’t do it. That shit hurts. It’s going to put me in a mood, and I don’t want to get in that mood. Some things I never tell anyone. He is not here. That shit feels wrong, bro. I spend the day thinking it’s fake. And I don’t tell anyone about it.”
