Andre Carrillo champion again

André Carrillo champion again!

It could have been a fateful night André Carrillo and the Al Hilal. And it is that after losing the final of the Asian Champions League to the Urawa Red Diamonds, precisely through the Peruvian’s own goal, they felt the need to defeat Al Wehda and they succeeded. They won a new title in Saudi Arabia: the Copa del Rey, after a very long penalty shoot-out where Culebra was unlucky to miss his shot.

After Beauguel missed the first goal for José Luis Sierra’s team, Culebra had the opportunity to put his team ahead. However, he failed to deflect his shot properly and goalkeeper Monir El Kajoui guessed it. From that moment on, the balance seemed to tip in Al Wehda’s favour. But football is like that. André made one mistake and with it a series of mistakes and saves that lengthened the shootout and made it extremely stressful for the more than 50,000 people who had gathered at King Abdullah Sports City.

It all came down to the seventh shot, in which Al Hilal goalkeeper Abdullah Al Mayouf became the hero of the night: he not only stopped Hazza Al Ghamdi’s shot, but also marked the game-winning shot in favor of Ramón Díaz-directed shots. Carrillo, relieved at what happened to his first penalty, celebrated a new title abroad.

Despite the heartbreaking definition, the 31-year-old Peruvian footballer added a new title to his record and continues to build his history in Saudi football. With this Copa del Rey, Carrillo added his ninth title with the Riyadh club: three Saudi Arabian leagues, two Saudi Arabian Super Cups, two King’s Cups of Champions and two Asian Champions Leagues. No one can deny that the culebra is very successful and recognized in this country. Peru celebrates it too.

The data

For the applause. Ramón Díaz, Al Hilal coach, is a historic champion. He suited Helenio Herrera. With 16 titles each, they are the most successful Argentine coaches in history.
