She didn't do that.

Ariana DeBose wasn't impressed when she was called an “actress who thinks she's a singer” at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards.

As she presented the show's best song award on Sunday, “Last of Us” star Bella Ramsey listed the “famous voices” in the category, including Billie Eilish, Lenny Kravitz and Dua Lipa, before joking, “And there are the actors who also think they are singers: Jack Black, Ariana DeBose, Ryan Gosling.”

The camera panned to the Tony-nominated actress, 32, who appeared shocked by the joke before cutting to a laughing Ryan Gosling – whose song “I'm Just Ken” from “Barbie” ultimately won the award.

“No, I didn’t find it funny. Lol,” DeBose, who was nominated for “This Wish” from the Disney animated film of the same name, wrote in an Instagram Story after the awards ceremony.

The viral clip sparked immediate backlash from DeBose fans, criticizing the show's writers for their disrespect towards the Broadway star.

“Ariana DeBose, Oscar winner, Tony nominee, original cast member of Hamilton on BROADWAY…. “THINKS she’s a singer”?!? Who wrote this part?! I want names #CriticsChoiceAwards,” one fan ranted, while another added: “Give some respect to the name Ariana DeBose!”

“The disrespect towards Oscar winner, Tony nominee and Broadway star Ariana DeBose is WILD. The look on her face really said it all,” one person wrote.

The Oscar-winning actress later confirmed on social media that she didn't like the joke. arianadebose/Instagram fans immediately criticized the show's writers for their disrespect towards the Broadway actress. Portal

“Imagine the audacity of saying: THE Oscar winner, Broadway-trained Ariana Debose, is not a SINGER. END THEM MOTHER,” said another, as fans continually named her greatest singing roles, including “Hamilton” and “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.”
