AU condemned attack on civilians in Gaza Strip

Mahamat called for an international investigation into the February 29 incident, in which more than 100 people died and more than 700 were injured, so that the perpetrators are held accountable.

He reiterated the African Union's call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in occupied Palestine to stop the State of Israel's ongoing and escalating attack on the lives and chances of survival of the Palestinian people.

He also called on the international community, and in particular major world powers, to live up to their responsibilities to urgently enforce peace and guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people.

The above-mentioned attack was reported this Thursday morning on Al-Rashid Street in Gaza City, when the Israeli military attacked thousands of people desperate for food.

According to the Wafa news agency, the occupying forces and their tanks opened machine gun fire on thousands of citizens in the northern strip who were waiting for the arrival of trucks carrying humanitarian aid.
