Finally, the movie Avatar: The Road to Water made its debut in cinemas around the world last Thursday (15). The sequence comes approximately 13 after the release of the franchise’s first film in 2009 and brings James Cameron back to direct. And as you’d expect, several questions were raised around the film, including its lengthy running time of 3 hours and 12 minutes.

Since the film really has a lot of screen time, rumors on Twitter suggest that some theaters in Brazil have encouraged breaks during sessions to allow audiences a “rest”. Which, of course, has already caused some controversy, as some argue that cinematographic works should not have intermissions, but should be consumed immediately.

Check out some posts to better understand the situation:

People have gotten so used to watching movies at home and taking breaks that Avatar 2 comes with 3 hours of cinema and they have to take a break in the middle of the session ???? pic.twitter.com/erxHSfQp7G

Guys: New “Avatar” HAS NO BREAK. Cinemas that do commercial breaks do it themselves. Films like BenHur, Ten Commandments, Satantango, Novice Rebel, which people decided to save, had conceptual gaps, not because of the arbitrariness of the cinemas pic.twitter.com/8GSdQtSh6C

As you can see from the post replies, a long discussion about “pause” and “interval” has started on the blue bird’s web. As some netizens point out, ‘breaks’ would be resources planned by filmmakers in specific productions, while ‘breaks’ would not be taken for granted but would be promoted exclusively by cinemas. In other words, it shouldn’t theoretically happen.

There are those who defend the pauses that would happen in Avatar 2 screenings, there are those who condemn the practice. However, we emphasize: at the moment everything is just rumors, since the fact could only happen in some places.

Avatar 2: When to go to the bathroom? Cameron answers!

Despite all the bullshit, who spoke goodnaturedly on the subject was The Way of the Water director James Cameron. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the artist joked about the whole situation, telling the can that it’s okay to go to the bathroom at any point in the film. “Whenever you want [as pessoas podem ir ao banheiro]🇧🇷 They can watch the scene they missed if they watch the movie again,” he said.

Avatar 2 is one of the longestrunning blockbusters of 2022, 30 minutes longer than the franchise’s first film. To give you an idea, other relevant recent titles such as The Batman and Avengers: Endgame fell under the brand. The Batman film lasted 2 hours and 56 minutes while the Marvel heroes lasted 3 hours and 2 minutes.
