Another annoyance: Diesel is now up to 30 cents more expensive than Super, presumably for being so scarce. “Wrong”, now claims NDR TV magazine discovering “Panorama 3” and reveals something disturbing.
Far from reality: According to the NDR, oil traders in Europe rely primarily on the London-based Platts price information service. There, markets, quantities and possible problems are observed and prices are determined, including for diesel.

Alone: Since June, in anticipation of EU sanctions (applicable from 2023), Platts no longer takes Russian quantities into account in the calculation, although diesel continues to flow from there to Europe. The result: the offer looks smaller than it really is. This artificially inflates prices.
ÖAMTC intervenes: It is unclear how far oil multinationals have their fingers in the pie. They are definitely beneficiaries, as recent record balances show. In response to the NDR report, the ÖAMTC contacted the EU Commission and asked for intervention.
