This competition to crown the queen or king of crime literature at the beginning of the millennium is an initiative of the Babelio literary platform and the Quais du Polar, a crime literature fair whose next presentation will take place in Lyon, France, in the month of 'April.

Titles by Stephen King, Dennis Lehane, James Ellroy, Fred Vargas and the first volume of the Millennium series by Stieg Larsson also appear in this long list.

However, the Québécoise is no stranger to this network: We were the salt of the sea just won the Quais du Polar readers' award last year.
