Bolivia expresses solidarity with Ecuador, condemns acts of violence

LA PAZ, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) — Bolivian Foreign Minister Celinda Sosa on Friday expressed solidarity with Ecuador and strongly condemned the vandalism and terrorist attacks that prompted Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa to call in the armed forces to deal with the to order a security crisis.

In statements to journalists, Sosa reiterated Bolivia's unwavering commitment to the defense of peace and human rights.

“As Bolivia we have expressed our solidarity, we have done so through a statement but also through telephone calls to Ecuador,” he explained.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining close ties between both nations.

The Chancellor expressed her hope that the current situation will be repeated not only in Ecuador but around the world, and stressed the need to build a world without violence.

He also expressed his condolences to the families affected by the events.

In Bolivia “we distinguish ourselves by maintaining popular diplomacy and, above all, by protecting the lives of the innocent. We strongly condemn any act of violence that threatens life and human rights,” emphasized the Chancellor.

Regarding the situation of Bolivians in Ecuador, Sosa reported that the Foreign Ministry has not yet received any reports about affected compatriots.

He assured that the diplomatic mission in that country maintains constant communication to receive updated reports on the situation and to ensure the safety of Bolivian citizens abroad.
