According to the federal government’s transparency portal, Caixa Econômica Federal paid out more than R$10 million for the campaign. No information was given on the use or purpose of the funds. The lottery rewarded the two draw winners with more than R$300 million, around R$162 million each.

Gusttavo Lima publicly supports Jair Bolsonaro and is a close friend of Jair Renan, the President’s youngest son. Just before the second ballot, the sertanejo met the Chief Executive in Brasília, accompanied by other singers such as Zezé di Camargo, Chitãozinho and Leonardo.
This is another public money controversy related to the Gusttavo Lima name. In May of this year, several state departments of state launched investigations into the sertanejo for overcharging shows performed without city hall tenders.
Amid the controversy, the singer decided to do a live on his Instagram profile and even cried, claiming he was being followed. He said he was about to “throw in the towel” and “not condone public money”.
