Kathy divorced her first husband, computer engineer Matt Moline, in 2006 after five years of marriage.
Back in September, Kathy revealed she had been working to get her voice back after her lung cancer treatment.
During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the comedian said the last time she was on the show, she had lung cancer that required half of her left lung to be removed.
“My voice has suffered some damage,” said the TV star. “But I’m fine, it doesn’t hurt … and the most important thing is my boobs are still fabulous,” she said as she shook her chest, which caused the audience to cheer.
Kimmel, 54, commented that her new higher pitched voice makes the star “funnier” and asked, “Will your vocal cords eventually stretch and your voice get deeper again?”
Kathy replied: “I think it’s going back to normal but I’m not sure. I am still working on it. I’m funnier because I think I don’t sound menacing and reserved. This is my new perspective.’
This comes after a difficult year-long recovery after announcing last August that she had been diagnosed with stage one lung cancer despite never having smoked cigarettes.
She had half of her lungs removed in August 2021 and three months later revealed Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she was cancer free.
“I’m cancer free. I don’t know why, I had a tumor right? And I never smoked, and it was in there for ten years,” she said.
In a candid podcast interview in March, the star opened up about her past addiction to pills and other struggles she overcame in the wake of the backlash after she posed with a gory effigy of then-President Donald Trump in 2017.
“I tried to kill myself and ended up in a psychiatric ward,” Kathy said during an appearance on The New York Times’ Sway podcast.
The My Life on the D-List star first revealed her pill addiction and attempted suicide in an interview with ABC News, where she revealed she was battling stage 1 lung cancer.
The Emmy winner opened up about circumstances surrounding her addiction, saying, “I think — well, look, I think I’m probably an addicted person, you know,” Kathy said.
“But you have to admit, it’s almost comical. I was hospitalized at the age of 59 because I was addicted to pills. Who the hell becomes a junkie in their late 50s? Me.’
She explained that she felt helpless after being “cancelled” and losing all of her performances in the wake of the controversy.
Kathy continued: “It just got to a point where I was convinced I had a good run on this planet and now it’s time for me to go. It was good. I’ve done a lot of great stuff and you know, it’s getting pretty crazy.
Kathy said her two suicide attempts convinced her to seek help and embrace sobriety.
“It was the fact that I overdosed and I thought I was going to die,” she said. “I fell down the stairs and got a few injuries instead.”
After telling doctors that she had attempted suicide, Kathy was admitted to a psychiatric ward.
Explaining that her suicidal thoughts went away after she recovered, the performer said: “And so I’m there, in the psychiatric ward at the hospital for three days, and boy is this gonna sober you up like nothing. You don’t have any drugs you’re just shaking and I’m looking at the ceiling and I’m just contemplating your life choices and you have nothing but your own thoughts.’
Kathy went on to say that the hospital put her in touch with sober doctors who helped her with her recovery.
“And that really saved my life,” she admitted. “Through this process, you sort of unpack everything and everyone. Everything is a bit surrounded by it. That comes first and then you know you can, I won’t say you have to deal with the shallow career stuff, but we’ll see if it’s not worth dying for.
