They are first seen in a car driving to the restaurant at night. Brad is behind the wheel of the sports car as there is some sexual tension between them.

The Oscar-winning diva asks Brad what she should order for dinner, he says he doesn't know.

But then he says a steak seems like a good idea.

While at the French restaurant he says they should have Chateaubriand so he asks for two. They both order the steak medium rare and demand that it be “spicy”.

“What time did you leave for Monte Carlo yesterday?” asks the Spanish siren.

The waitress – played by Rianne Van Rompaey – seems irritated when she interrupts them to ask if they want appetizers, but they both say no.

“I think she’s mad at us. “She’s definitely not happy,” he says after the waitress leaves.

“Do you want us to make her happy?” Cruz coos. She has her black Chanel handbag on the table between them.

It is implied that they will have sex after dinner.

The couple can also be seen dressed in black, walking on a beach in Deauville and giving each other sexy looks.

The short film was shot at the opening of Chanel's Fall-Winter 2024-25 ready-to-wear show.

It is an homage to the film “A Man and a Woman” by French director Claude Lelouch. The aim of the short film is to “capture the beginning of a love story in Deauville, a place close to the house’s heart and the inspiration for the collection designed by Virginie Viard.”

Pitt has worked with Cruz's husband Javier Bardem. Javier now stars in Pitt's untitled project about Formula 1 racing.

Vogue helped explain more about this short film.

The clip is based on the classic 1966 film “A Man and a Woman”. Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant star in this French film.

You play two widowed parents who meet at their children's boarding school. They soon realize that they are attracted to each other.

Chanel's short tribute recreates the scene in which the two sit opposite each other in a hotel restaurant in Deauville.

In the original scene, director Claude Lelouch placed a handbag – Aimée's own Chanel bag – on the table between them.

This happens again in the Pitt/Cruz film.

In Lelouch's original film, Trintignant asks for the room, but here Cruz does, giving the woman strength as she takes the first step towards the bedroom.

As Inez & Vinoodh explained: “The complicity between the two women – which is a central theme in everything we do for Chanel – reinforces Penélope’s decision to take this first step.”

Cruz raved about the film to Vogue.

“I've seen it many times, but only at home alone,” said the Volver actress.

“And I think Inez & Vinoodh have done something incredible.” “A Man and a Woman” is one of my favorite films ever and Claude Lelouch is one of my favorite directors.

“And Anouk Aimée has always been one of my favorite actresses. And she is such a beauty, such a fashion icon.

“So to be able to be part of this beautiful homage – to the film, to Claude, to the Deauville Festival, to the relationship between Deauville and Chanel and between Gabrielle and Deauville…” There are so many layers. And they are all so beautiful. And they are also truthful.”
