British government bullying scandal bothers Sunak

The hopes of the new British Conservative government of calmer waters appear to be crumbling just two weeks after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak took office. Because of allegations of bullying against Conservative Minister Gavin Williamson, a government spokesman was forced to assure on Monday that the prime minister had complete confidence in the cabinet member. Williamson is sitting at the cabinet table as Minister of State with no specific portfolio.

Previously, text messages from him to Conservative parliamentary group leader Wendy Morton had reached the public, in which the sometimes crude language put pressure on his fellow party member. He would be trying to get an invitation to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September. According to a report by the Sunday Times, Williamson has since expressed regret over his news. Sunak welcomed this but also described the news as “unacceptable”.
