A college student who’s lost 140 pounds during the pandemic has revealed how her life has surprisingly changed since her transformation.
Maeve Everett, a sophomore at the University of Michigan, has been candid about her weight loss on TikTok, where she’s posted a series of videos about the “strange things” she’s noticed after her 14-month journey.
Not surprisingly, there were drastic differences in their physical appearance and health, but some of the changes were completely unexpected.

“Maybe it’s just in my head, but I think my voice got a little higher, [and] Oddly enough, I’ve become a lot less clumsy,” she explained in a video.
Now that she’s 140 pounds lighter, she’s also finding it easier to remember her dreams. The pattern of her curls has “almost completely changed,” and the soles of her feet are “much more sensitive.”
Everett’s calorie-deficit diet and hormonal fluctuations during her weight loss likely contributed to these odd occurrences.
Functional medicine expert Will Cole explained in an interview with Mindbodygreen that nightmares, or vivid dreams, have been linked to blood sugar changes and other changes in the body, although “there is limited research on changes in dreams in general detoxification.”

Everett also finds that her voice sounds higher pitched than it did before her weight loss
As for her physical appearance, Everett shared that it’s not just her dress size that has changed after losing weight.
She said her “shoe size went from a size 9 to a size 7” and she can no longer wear many of her old accessories.
All of her old sunglasses are now too wide for her face, and her fingers and neck have shrunk so that her jewelry no longer fits.
Many of her facial features have also become more prominent, including her eyes, dimples, and collarbone.

Everett added that her skin cleared up and she “stopped snoring completely.”

Among the positive effects of her weight loss are changes in her health.
She said her skin has improved and she has “completely stopped snoring.” She rarely gets sick and her back and knee pain are now gone.
On the other hand, she’s not used to eating junk food anymore, so she gets headaches from too much sugar, which has never happened before.
Everett, who shared some of the things she was told after her weight loss, noted that many people mistakenly assume that she “lost weight unhealthily.”
The college student also explained how people treat her differently now that she’s smaller
“This might be a bit controversial, but the boys got nicer and the girls got meaner,” she said
Everett (pictured before her weight loss) noted that she used to be considered “friendly” when speaking to men, but is now accused of “flirting.”
Everett shared that people — including those she knew before — also treat her differently because of her shrinking size.
“A lot of people automatically assume that I’ve lost weight in an unhealthy way,” she noted in one of her videos.
Some people didn’t recognize her after her weight loss, while others insisted she looked taller — despite not growing an inch. People have also claimed she’s not as funny as she used to be, which she wasn’t happy about.
“This might be a bit controversial, but boys got nicer and girls got meaner,” she shared while reflecting on her new reality.
“Before, when I was heavier and talking to guys, I was always just seen as a friendly person,” she explained. “Now that I’m having the same conversations, I’m being told I’m flirting.”
