A crustacean on the run in the center of Bari The unusual scene was noticed in disbelief by some citizens in front of a restaurant on Piazza Umberto: the crabs moved undisturbed on the sidewalk in the morning. A painting that made us think of some kind of escape route to save his skin. And some guys even filmed everything. “The animal was lively,” says the biologist Carla Korvasce who saw the scene.
At first glance it looked like a lobster, but in reality it is a freshwater shrimp, at most 15 or 20 centimeters, the size of the palm of a hand. ‘Oil replacing our own. In fact, the freshwater shrimp can also walk on dry land, “moving away from the restaurant, reaching a stream and surviving,” the biologist continues, “They have some water in their gills as a reserve, so they can run dry stretches.” Shortly after, the teacher returned to monitor the situation, but “the shrimp were gone and the restaurant was open.”
