Havana, 25 October (EFE).- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said on Tuesday that his country would ratify the commitment “to unity” at the meeting of foreign ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) to be held in Cuba Buenos Aires.

“In the face of great common challenges, we will confirm Cuba’s commitment to unity in diversity,” wrote the island’s foreign minister on his Twitter profile.

Rodríguez reported on his attendance at this Wednesday’s CELAC meeting, indicating that it will be “an opportunity to discuss issues of regional interest and to further strengthen this mechanism for political unification and integration”.

Argentina, which holds the pro tempore 2022 presidency of CELAC, will receive the representatives of the 32 member countries of the Latin American group to discuss “15 lines of action” including the post-pandemic economic recovery, the regional health strategy, the ‘Celac’ agenda against corruption and food security.

The foreign ministers will also talk about the dialogue with supra-regional partners; the integration of Latin American and Caribbean infrastructure; environmental cooperation and the improvement of the situation and situation of women in the member countries.

The meeting aims to renew the strategic connection based on historical, cultural and human ties and to strengthen the ties so that the relationship can reach its full potential.

A day later, also in Buenos Aires, the foreign ministers of CELAC and the European Union (EU) will meet, the first since 2018, to strengthen the bi-regional dialogue. EFE
