Milos Raonic will replace Denis Shapovalov in the Davis Cup qualifier against South Korea, Tennis Canada announced Wednesday.
Shapovalov said he wanted to pay attention to his health since he did not participate in activities for several months last season due to a knee injury. He also skipped the Australian Open 2024.

“I have to focus on my return to the game and try to find my rhythm to get back to my best level as quickly as possible. I wish the team the best of luck, I know the boys have what it takes to reach the round-robin!” said the 24-year-old athlete in a press release from Tennis Canada.
In addition to Raonic, Liam Draxl, Gabriel Diallo, Alexis Galarneau and Vasek Pospisil will make up the Canadian team that will face the South Koreans.

The games will take place on February 2nd and 3rd at the IGA Stadium. Canada will advance to the Davis Cup finals if they win their duel.
