That’s what Mompracem and Rai Cinema announced all three films From diabolicalwritten and directed by Marco and Antonio Manettiwill be distributed in the United States.
After releases in numerous countries such as France, Spain, Latin America, Portugal, South Korea, Canada, Taiwan and those of the former Yugoslavia, Beta Cinema has signed an agreement with Kino Lorber that will bring the films dedicated King of Terrortaken from the famous comics by Angela and Luciana GiussaniIn American cinemas.
The Manetti brothers have explained this in the following statement:
“The release of the three Diabolik films in the land of cinema we have always loved is a joy and a source of great satisfaction. This character, so famous for us, is less well known to American audiences and we are proud that our films allow them to get to know him better. We are very excited to see how viewers will react and if they will love this beautiful character as much as we do.”
The Diabolik trilogy is produced by Carlo Macchitella, Manetti bros., Pier Giorgio Bellocchio for Mompracem and by Paolo Del Brocco for Rai Cinema in collaboration with Astorina and distributed in Italy by 01 Distribution.
Filming the second chapter Diabolik – Ginko attacks!created “back-to-back” with those of the third chapter now in production, took place for the most part in Emilia-Romagna from October 2021 to March 2022, with a meticulous stylistic operation in terms of scenography, location and Costumes , Environments and Cars and reconstructs the habits of the ’60s by scouting locations, buildings, streets, restaurants and hotels (the film hit our theaters on November 17, 2022).
Diabolik, the first chapter of the trilogy, released in 2021, had been nominated for 11 David di Donatello and 8 Silver Ribbons, winning in both cases for Best Original Song, The Depth of the Abysses by Manuel Agnelli.
In Diabolik – Ginko to attack! Diabolik and Eva Kant seem to have a seemingly perfect plan. But they don’t know that behind this blow lies a trap set by the cunning Inspector Ginko, which is straining their bond. Betrayed by the King of Terror, Eva decides to take revenge and suggests that the inspector cooperate in capturing Diabolik. A difficult decision for Ginko, who also has to face the arrival of Altea, Duchess of Vallenberg (Monica Bellucci), eternal friend of the Inspector, flamboyant and bohemian noblewoman, with a strong character and great charisma.
