Time flies, and looking back, among celebrities who marked an era, nostalgia is inevitable for the people who have gone. That’s what photographer Alper Yesiltas seems to have understood, using artificial intelligence to recreate awesome characters that might still be alive today.
“As if nothing happened” is the name of the Turkish photographer’s digital tool. With this process, today we can see characters like Heath Leadger, who died in 2008 at the age of just 28, leaving behind the unforgettable interpretation of the Joker in the film Batman the Dark Knight.
“I would like to share with you the first collection of images from my AI-based project entitled ‘As if Nothing Happened’. Behind this project is the question of how people would look photorealistic if some big events hadn’t happened to them,” said the photographer, who shared some of his work on social media. He pointed out that he has been collecting photographs and taking others for exhibitions for 19 years.
Another artist portrayed is Kurt Cobain, frontman of the legendary band Nirvana in the 90s, who died in 1994. Today he would be 55 years old. Also included is Princess Diana of Wales (or Lady Diana), who died in August 1997 at the age of 36. She would be 62 today.
But Alper Yesiltas does not limit himself to relatively contemporary personalities. For example, it also includes a legend who started the music craze and was considered the king of rock ‘n’ roll. This is Elvis Presley, who would be 87 today. It also shows us John Lennon, a member of The Beatles, who is said to live to be 82, and Freddie Mercury, leader of the band Queen, who is said to be 76.
