FA Cup: BBC victims of risqué hoax ahead of Wolverhampton-Liverpool

The BBC’s presentation of the 32nd FA Cup final between Wolverhampton and Liverpool was disrupted by noise which clearly came from a porn film being broadcast on set on Tuesday.

When former international striker Gary Lineker quizzed two agents, Paul Ince and Danny Murphy, about the upcoming game, women on set erupted in loud, sexually explicit moans.

“Can you stop making that noise Danny?” ‘ Lineker hurled at his interlocutor, taking the matter lightly and barely holding back his amusement.

While rumors continued after a pre-game interview with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, Lineker handed over to another former player, Alan Shearer, in the much quieter commentary box.

“Someone is texting something on someone’s phone, I don’t know if you hear it at home,” Lineker continued.

However, minutes into the game, the presenter posted a photo of a cell phone on his Twitter account with three hilarious emojis and the caption: “Well we found this taped to the back of the decal. More funny than sabotage”.

The episode drew a lot of laughs on social media, but much less from the very serious and sometimes stern BBC, who presented their “apologies if viewers were offended by the noise” in a press release.

“We’re investigating to find out what happened,” she added.
