The dispute over the television rights of League 1 clubs continues: after Alianza Lima, Universitario, Cusco FC, Cienciano, Sport Boys, Deportivo Municipal, Melgar and Binacional decided not to take part in the tournament due to the precautionary measure submitted by the clubs Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), what prevents GolPerú from broadcasting the games of the above institutions, from La Videna they spoke about what happened and made their position clear.

“Everything stays the same and we will not lift the precautionary measure. With all of this, there is no going back. There are four clubs that have to abide by the FPF contract. We will not lift the precautionary measure (…). We met with the League 1 manager and he agreed that the tournament would start on January 21 anyway,” he told RPP Deportes.

The directive also made it clear what will happen to the clubs that are not played on the first day and what the possible consequences will be in the future: “The team that doesn’t show up loses by WO and if it happens twice it’s straight relegation.”

On the other hand, referring to the discussions with the parties involved, Mandriotti mentioned that he has not yet met with the representatives of Alianza Lima. “I haven’t been able to speak to the Alianza people, I don’t know why they don’t join the Federation,” he concluded.

With 8 teams rejected, only 11 teams were able to play on the first day of the inaugural tournament.
