Foreign trips have almost doubled in the last year; Lisbon is a dream destination

Despite two years of movement restrictions due to the Covid19 pandemic on top of the economic crisis caused by the health emergency international travel is already recovering.

According to a survey by the travel research platform MaxMilhas, the number of trips abroad almost doubled between 2021 and 2022. More precisely, from January to July of this year there was a 43% increase in this type of travel compared to the same period of 2021.

The most desirable destination in recent months has been Lisbon, a trend observed in 2021 that continues to remain in the preference of Brazilian travelers due to the easy language and cultural and gastronomic familiarity, as well as easier access to other European destinations. According to a survey by the platform on Monday (29th), the cheapest ticket price to the Portuguese capital is currently R$ 3,611.21.

According to MaxMilhas, Latin America is now a common and preferred travel destination for Brazilians — half of the most desirable cities are on the continent — precisely because of cheaper tickets and accommodation, shorter journeys, and the ability to communicate due to the similarity with the Spanish language.

Experts on the platform also note that the traveler is preparing a strategy to guarantee cheaper vacations in times of dollars and high inflation, in addition to more expensive tickets due to the war in Ukraine. In addition to researching in advance whether the chosen travel destination fits in your pocket, it is advisable to book the appointment and buy the ticket only when you already have all the necessary documents at hand.

For example, due to the pandemic, American and Canadian visas have longer issuance deadlines, which can result in a ticket with no entry authorization on the chosen date. In addition, it is necessary to check what protocols the country applies in relation to Covid19 and whether you meet the requirements for tourism in order not to pay additional fees or be forced to return without knowing the destination.

Finally, MaxMilhas not only recommends making the exchange gradually and in advance on more favorable dates, but also visits to Argentina, Colombia, Egypt and Thailand.
