She had held the position on an interim basis since Michel Bissonnette resigned last October.

Previously, Dany Meloul was general manager of Télévision de Radio-Canada, a position she received in October 2019.

“ [Dany Meloul] has deep industry knowledge in an environment where business models are being upended by increasing competition from digital giants and the changing habits of French-speaking audiences. This appointment comes at a strategic time for CBC/Radio-Canada, as our industry faces significant challenges and we work to position public broadcasting strongly for the future,” said Catherine Tait, President and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada. Canada, in a press release.

Recall that on December 12, the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Pascale St-Onge, told journalists that Catherine Tait's mandate would end “at the beginning of 2025”.
