French Services of Radio-Canada | Dany Meloul succeeds Michel Bissonnette

CBC/Radio-Canada management announced the appointment of Dany Meloul as senior vice-president of French services shortly after 11 a.m. Friday.

She had held the position on an interim basis since Michel Bissonnette resigned last October.

Previously, Dany Meloul was general manager of Télévision de Radio-Canada, a position she received in October 2019.

“ [Dany Meloul] has deep industry knowledge in an environment where business models are being upended by increasing competition from digital giants and the changing habits of French-speaking audiences. This appointment comes at a strategic time for CBC/Radio-Canada, as our industry faces significant challenges and we work to position public broadcasting strongly for the future,” said Catherine Tait, President and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada. Canada, in a press release.

Recall that on December 12, the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Pascale St-Onge, told journalists that Catherine Tait's mandate would end “at the beginning of 2025”.
